001: Ravelry Yarn Blog

I've never blogged about yarn before, this should be an interesting outlet.

I find my crafts to be aggravating at times but overall I am only satisfied when I finish my projects. I love the things I make and love donating them to charity. It's a challenge to use the yarn I'm given (most of it donated) so I have more freedom to try new patterns and not be tied down by the results.

Colors have always been fluid for me. I like to try new combinations and stick with old ones. Monochromatic patterns appeal to me just as much as a crayon rainbow variegated skein. I don't discriminate when it comes to materials. Babies and needy women appreciate the most common acrylic as much as the most expensive animal fiber.

Mostly I crochet but (GASP) I'm finally learning to knit. I'm not finding it to be as difficult as I thought it would be but it is slow going as compared to my crochet projects. I'm not ready to make anything for anyone in knit but I hope to be able to soon. We'll see how my first project goes.

Current Project:
Tiramisu Baby Blanket

A beautiful lacy blanket but not too open so that baby stays warm. I'm making it as a stash buster and for charity. White isn't always the best for baby blankets but it's what I grabbed first. See, there. That's how I pick my colors. No joke. :D I'm excited to try and do an ornate border for the first time. Usually I stay content with a normal simple shell but I want to be able to make the ribbon bits too. I'm having a little bit of trouble finding enough of the same color yarn but if I run out of white I will just add on from medium blue. the a-symmetrical look might be cool.
